A NEW PROJECT BEGINS
LINGUA FRANCA
Identical twins who have never been apart before are about to be separated by six thousand miles of land and sea. Together they are about to embark on the biggest adventure of their lives… apart. Emma and Sarah Bailin will discover the essence of their common experience through the aid of the true lingua franca: the camera.

In December 2010, Sarah and Emma Bailin decided to spend a year abroad following their high school graduation before beginning college. They applied to and were accepted by the Rotary Youth Exchange Program, district 6150.

Beginning in the fall 2011, Sarah will be in Taiwan and Emma will be in Belgium. Each will carry with them a video camera prepared to record their respective experiences as an American exchange student abroad. Their story will begin the summer before their departure and end when they return home. Composed almost entirely of personal video diary entries, the film will explore what it means to become true citizens of the world on either side of the globe. It will cover such topics as preparing to go abroad, adapting to new cultures, and coping with everything that comes between.

STAY TUNED.
